September 17 – Yesterday was fun, Reilly (my hubby) decided we were making collages so we both ended up collaging/decoupageing parts of our computer cases… me just one side as I had to go to work, and Reilly after the 8 hours I was gone – - his whole case. In fact, he was so excited about it he has already put some pics up on the web… <a href=”http://www.umyamedia.com/compcase/ “target=”_blank”>http://www.umyamedia.com/compcase/ </a>- for whoever’s viewing pleasure.
What was interesting was how much you can learn about another person by what they choose to use in their collage and which words they highlight. Pouring over Reilly’s case there is a lot of film and media related stuff, slogans made out of cut out letters such as “Live for Today”, and statements such as “today I ask myself what makes me happy”… Reilly is also much more creative than I am, and my paints were not left out of the fun as he’s also used them…. he’s so very excited about it.
As I had to go to work, I had only time for one side of my case. For comparison sake, Reilly is as-we-speak getting that up and online as well so you can all see what I do with my spare time … it’s just funny, because they are so very different. Aside from the pictures used, mine is very neat and orderly, everything is straight, nothing on it’s side, every piece of “white” space has been neatly covered…. and it’s also very simple comparatively to his.
I had made a collage a few months back at a retreat… and now I’m scrambling around my house to try and find it. I think it was very much the same… I’m interested in searching and comparing the two to see where I can spot things that have changed with *me* rather than the materials and images I had available to me. Except for the trees…. my original collage had tonnes of trees, this one I spent half my time searching for more trees to no avail, so that’s not a me change, just a problem with silly magazines… but it will be interesting to see what has really changed.
