Parking morals?
We have a tiny parkade under our building which holds about 12 cars. When you drive in, you can clearly see all the cars that are there and very quickly learn to recognize which cars belong.
So, this has happened twice now… we came home to find the car of someone else who lives in our building in our spot. Huh? Today they were actually just walking away from it…. and when questioned, they said that someone else had parked in their spot so they had no where to park but, apparently, in our spot.
I DON’T GET IT. They came home, discovered someone else had parked in their spot which was frustrating and an inconvenience to them, and their response was to park in someone else’s spot?? Did they not think that this may be frustrating and an inconvenience to us as well?
As I mentioned, this is the second time another car from our building has been in our spot. These weren’t young kids or anything either – it was a middle aged couple who had somehow determined this was the best course of action as a pair. They muttered that they didn’t know it was someone else’s spot – but that isn’t even logical. If they paid attention, they would know that our spot was occupied (actually, they’re all occupied). If they didn’t pay attention, they would know that they couldn’t honestly say that they didn’t know it was someone’s spot as they hadn’t been paying attention.
I’m just so confused. The situation was simple and an inconvenience more than anything, but whatever happened to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”? When it happened to us before we parked outside, on the street, without even a question as to what we should do. Who are we to react by screwing someone else as a result?
