A Kansas appeal court last week upheld a ruling putting a young man in jail for 17 years for engaging in oral sex with a 14 year old boy when he was 18. Had the 14 year old been a female, the sentence would have been 13-15 months. The court defended their decision “as a way to promote traditional moral values.”

The case will go through additional appeals through the Kansas and the US supreme court if necessary. Further, the incident occurred while both boys were attending a school for developmentally disabled youth. This kid has enough against him already, I cannot fathom how anyone could make this kind of decision and still sleep at night.
