Silent Film

My semi irregular updates have given way to daily facebook status updates and a silent blog. Mom, have you joined Facebook yet? Facebook.com. Things will be quiet here at least until the season slows down for us.

Many great weddings, always updates on those at http://www.blueolivephotography.com/blog/

Went to Alberta earlier this month thanks to a wedding cancellation here leaving an extra weekend. Went with Mom and Tara to Roy & Tara’s new place in Saskatoon for painting and such of the new house. Came back and got to spend some time with Sherry & Peter, which was fantastic. I love old friends as you can show up and hang out for a few hours and it’s like nothing ever changed. I’m so glad they moved back to Westlock so now I’ll get to see them everytime I come home to visit my parents.

Mom and I went out to the farm to spend 2 days with Baba & Dido, which to me was the most important part of my trip. Got lots of history, copied lots of photos, and came home with all the old movies. Currently watching silent clips of me feeding chickens when I was 3, my parent’s wedding years before that, and random events throughout the 60’s as seen through my Dido’s super 8mm gear. Very surreal.

Mom came back to Van with me and we got pedicures and went down to Bellingham to go shopping, which was really nice. We had a great visit, and the next trip down will have us heading to Victoria for high tea at the Empress.

Broke down at Reilly’s pleading and bought a scooter, which is very cute. Photo with clients at the top of the blue olive blog. Getting around town has never been more convenient - it’s so much faster when you don’t have to hunt for parking everywhere you go. Ahhhhh - although it’s just going to cost me more, because now it seems so much easier to go shopping at all the little stores I want to browse. I can’t easily bring lots home, though, so hopefully it will balance out.

Enjoying a clean home today. Crazy week as always with many shoots and client meetings and phone calls and endless work. It seems like an eternity ago that I worked for anyone else but myself. I could never go back.

On a huge old school kick. Today’s film processing bill alone was $94. Shooting lots of old school polaroid both on the holga and the mamiya medium format cam. Some stereo (think 3d glasses) for good measure, cross processed slide film, and everything in between. It’s fun to play and to get away from the work part of photography.

Reilly’s still out in the dark on a fashion shoot, not sure when he’ll be back. He forgot his cell so I can’t even call to tell him to bring me a present. Huh.

Tech lovely - I try to keep an old e-mail so that I have your address but the 100 day expiration date must have struck!!

    Love,
    Mom

  2. Awe, thanks for the sweetness Miranda. It is great when you can just pick up with old friends. We loved visiting with you, and you’re always, always welcome here…even if your mom’s house is just across the park.
Looking through all those picture and movies must be so much fun. We do it everytime we go to my gramma’s farm.
